Last year, Chief of Space Operations Gen. John W. “Jay” Raymond unveiled the Guardian Ideal and Space Force values during his speech at the Air Force Association Air, Space, and Cyber Conference in National Harbor, Maryland.

“At the heart of the Guardian Ideal is the commitment between the leader and the led, founded upon our core values of Character, Connection, Commitment, and Courage,” said Raymond “These values guide who we are and how we conduct our mission. They will unite and sustain us as we grow together as one interconnected force.”

One Space Training and Readiness Command squadron has found a way to emulate the Guardian Ideal through an initiative called Compassion 12-03.

Guardians from Space Delta 12’s 3rd Test and Evaluation Squadron set a goal of reaching 1,203 volunteer hours of community service in 2021, a goal they surpassed by mid-December, ultimately tallying more than 1,300 hours volunteered for the year.

“As space professionals we are not only dedicated to the mission but also to the communities around us,” said MSgt Albert Stoner, 3 TES Superintendent. “We have members participating in all sorts of events and positions, from volunteer firefighting to youth coaching.”

The driving force for Compassion 12-03 initiative is to give unit members an achievable goal to work towards, but also provide a challenge to spotlight the time and dedication members of the 3 TES family commit to their communities.
