STARCOM, USAFA collaborate to inspire next generation at 39th Space Symposium

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM) partnered with the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) to host National i5 Space Student Leaders, attending the 39th Annual Space Symposium, April 8-11.
 
Undergraduates represented their regions and ROTC Detachments including, but not limited to, University of Colorado Boulder, Boston University, United States Naval Academy, University of Texas at Austin, Yale, Rochester Institute of Technology, Utah State, and USAFA.
 
Students learned about the United States Space Force mission, career opportunities, met astronauts, received lessons on orbital dynamics, commercial space innovation and challenges helping them to prepare for Great Power Competition.
 
“Our team is so humbled, having the chance to work with these future officers of character,” said U.S. Space Force Lt. Col. Adam Wasinger, Delta 13, Detachment 1. “It is so important we invest not only in our current generation, but also do our best to help prepare the next. The freedom’s we enjoy will be in their hands.  When others ask, how does our future look? I often reply with, ‘Our future looks bright! Semper Supra.’”
 
i5 Space is an undergraduate space-focused national student organization, created just a few years ago.  Students work with STARCOM, developing solutions to real world problems, conducting research and fostering innovation. As of today, i5 Space has roughly 1,100 students involved, 68 different ROTC units, and consisting of more than 100 universities.
