What We Do

MISSION:

Forge the world’s most combat-credible space force

VISION:

Shape a future where Guardians, systems, and tactics seamlessly integrate to deliver unmatched combat credibility for the space domain

STARCOM's core purpose—our "why"—is to forge combat-credible space forces. This key enabling function directly supports the United States Space Force's (USSF) mission to secure our Nation's interests in, from, and to space. Combat credibility requires deep domain expertise, relevant mission capability, operational agility, and joint force mastery—traits STARCOM cultivates in Guardians and validates in the systems they operate. Ultimately, STARCOM is the crucible where Guardians are shaped, systems are proven, and warfighting excellence is forged.

STARCOM, as this crucible, is vital to the USSF’s ability to organize, train, and equip its forces. These forces, empowered with integrated warfighting capabilities, systems, command and control (C2), and tactics enable the United States to deter aggression, defend vital interests and when necessary, dominate the space domain. Achieving this mission requires a collaborative effort, in which each USSF institutional Field Command (FLDCOM) has a distinct, vital role:

Space Systems Command (SSC) designs, develops, and delivers required systems and capabilities.

Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM) prepares Guardians—developing them and integrating them with validated systems, tactics, and C2 processes to forge combat-credible space forces.

Combat Forces Command (CFC) transforms these combat-credible forces into combat-ready elements for presentation to Combatant Commanders.

Guided by the commander’s intent, the STARCOM Strategic Vision outlines three focus areas that will drive the command’s priorities:
•           Create combat credibility – Advancing Guardian warfighting expertise and validating systems and tactics in combat-realistic environments.
•           Bolster our baseline – Strengthening and normalizing the command’s foundational processes, plans, and operational framework.
•           Cultivate a collaborative culture – Building a team-first culture and strengthening partnerships across the Joint Force, industry, and allied and partner nations.
