Maj. Gen. James E. Smith assumed command of Space Training and Readiness Command from Maj. Gen. Timothy A. Sejba during a ceremony at Patrick Space Force Base, Fla., July 18, 2025. Smith is the first to lead the command from its new home on Florida’s Space Coast. Its five Deltas are geographically dispersed across the U.S. and deliver doctrine development, training, testing, and education that shape Guardian readiness at every stage of their careers. Space Training and Readiness Command's role of developing warfighters, testing and evaluating capabilities, and delivering combat credibility for the U.S. Space Force was front and center during the ceremony. The message emphasizes STARCOM’s mission to ensure national defense and protect the American way of life through readiness and innovation. (U.S. Space Force video by Isaac Blancas) More
