CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT

Chief Master Sergeant Stephen Van Mil is the Senior Enlisted Leader at Space Delta 13, JB Andrews, Maryland. He serves as principle enlisted leader to the Commander leading the Space Force education ecosystem encompassing professional military education and professional partnerships education for 16,000 Guardians. Additionally, he advises on matters affecting the utilization, development, enhancement, and quality of life for 121 Guardians and Airmen across 5 geographically separated locations. Space Delta 13 is the premier space educator in the Department of Defense developing Guardians, joint, and allied mission partners to prevail in combat operations within the space domain and support of national interests.

Chief Master Sergeant Van Mil is from Cincinnati, Ohio and enlisted in the United States Air Force in October 2002. After completing Basic Military Training in December 2002, he attended technical training at Keesler AFB, Mississippi. Since then, Chief Van Mil has performed many duties in the electronics maintenance and cyber career fields, including supporting the RC-135 Rivet Joint, E-3A Sentry, and various intelligence collection systems. He has been stationed at locations in United Kingdom, Alaska, Germany, Texas, and Ohio. Chief Van Mil has deployed multiple times with North Atlantic Treaty Organization in support of Operation RESOLUTE SUPPORT in Afghanistan and Operation UNIFIED PROTECTOR in Libya. In 2021, he enlisted the United States Space Force as the newest branch of the Department of Defense stood up where he helped stand up the Enterprise Talent Management Office as the Enlisted Functional Assignment Manager. Prior to Chief Van Mil’s current position, he served as Staff Senior Enlisted Leader at Headquarters National Space Intelligence Center at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.
